I am by no means a lash expert or an esthetician so always double check with a specialist! I just thought I would share with you guys my experience of lash extensions since I have had them off and on for a couple years now. I always see on my social media feeds questions about lash extensions and lots of people always ask me where I get mine done!
Why Get Lash Extensions?
I chose to get lash extensions because I have super blonde lashes. If I don’t put mascara on I look like I don’t have any lashes at all! I suffer from allergies and seem to always mess up my mascara regardless if it’s waterproof or not! That was the main reason for getting lash extensions.
I also decided to get the lash extensions because I am like the lowest maintenance girl ever when it comes to make up and getting ready in the morning. So the thought of waking up and basically being ready to go sounded amazing to me! Now all I go is brush my lashes, sometimes put a little foundation on, and I am good to go in the makeup department!
How often do you have to get lash extension filled and what is the cost?
This is the main question I get about lashes. It costed me $100 for my first time getting them on then $50 each time after that. I get the most natural looking lashes which are called “Classic” lashes. The “Volume” lashes usually cost a little bit more depending on the lash artist.
Lashes can last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. I have to go right at two weeks because I am hard on my lashes. I always catch myself rubbing my eyes or sleeping on them! I know that my allergies play a part in needing them done more frequently as well.
Even though I pay $50 every two weeks the amount of time it saves me makes it so worth it! I love not having to do my eye make up!
Do Lash Extensions Damage Your Eyelashes?
In my own experiences I do not believe that lash extensions damage your lashes. At least not noticeably for me. I think it is SO important to have an experienced lash professional do the extensions. You definitely get what you pay for. Luckily, I have not had any bad experiences with the two different places I have gone.
Also, it is normal to have your lash extensions fall out throughout the couple weeks in between fills. Your regular lashes have cycles where they grow and shed so that is partly why your lash extensions will fall off. They are just held on with a little glue so you want to make sure to be gentle with them.
Where Do You Get Your Lashes Done?
I get my lashes done at Lee Bee’s Lashes in Lake Stevens. She does an amazing job! It is out of her house but when you are in her studio you would never know the difference. I found her by driving past her sign everyday then looking her up on Instagram and Facebook to see her work and reviews.
I love that she took the time to listen to what I wanted and made them look very natural and they do not hit my glasses just like I had requested.
Before going to her my eyes would water super bad while the lashes were being put on. I just thought my eyes were sensitive to people touching them. Then my lash lady suggested that I should focus on looking down when my eyes were shut. This helps to ensure that your eyes are all the way closed.
Sure enough, after I took her advice my eyes do not water at all! It makes for such a better experience! Now I just lay down with my eyes shut and relax while I get my lashes done!
What Make Up Can I Wear With Lash Extensions?
You will want to choose oil free make up for anything you are applying near your eyes where it could get on your lashes. The oil in makeup, lotions, make up remover, and other products will break down the glue holding your lashes on. That makes them not last as long and could make them fall out.
The most important makeup to worry about is mascara for your bottom lashes. I don’t personally wear any mascara on my bottom lashes unless I was going somewhere extra special where I wanted to wear a full face of makeup.
Usually, I will just use a little tinted moisturizer or some foundation and that’s all I do. Sometimes I’ll add a lip gloss or some eyeshadow but that’s if I am feeling like spending more time! haha!
Here are some mascaras that should be safe for your lash extensions. They are all water based instead of oil based.
